Press, James Street, Fortitude Valley

The latest eatery in James Street, Press is a tiny pop-up that eats up a bit of the car park in the shopping strip on the corner of James Street and Robertson Streets.

If you're more the visual type, it's just over the road from Easton Pearson, nearly next door to that fabulous lingerie shop Puritan!

It's definitely a mornings place as the shutters go down after lunch is finished.  And it's only open Monday to Friday (think they should change that!).  There are a few stools outside under cover and more coming we were told.  It would be nice to have a bit more comfort to enjoy the food as there's not a lot of choice in this end of James Street.

There's a small but sweet menu with plenty to tempt for breakfast and lunch and some delectable goodies on hand from Jocelyn's Provisions.  Press is a separate entity to Jocelyn's but owned by the same people and the same chef is doing both.

The breakfast menu includes granola, yoghurt cups, brioche cinnamon toast, and a tricky PLT (Pancetta, rocket and tomato). There's also Eggs Florentine.

Lunch choices include Pressed Flat, on house made flat breads, or Press Salad available in three takeaway sizes. We indulged in the Moroccan salad and tabouleh, both of which were full of flavour but not overpowered by onion and random dressings - just noice!

The Pressed to Impress folded flat bread with prosciutto buffalo mozzarella and rocket was another success.

Press uses Genovese coffee and Barambah Organics Milk. Their cappuccino had a good, strong smooth flavour.

Next time I'd like to save some space for the Ultimate Triple Choc Brownie or a Lemon Square which have escaped from Jocelyn's Provisions.

Bottom line: Eco friendly styling and high quality food designed for easy takeaway and short time eat in.

Oh, and don't forget to give yourself or someone you love a treat from Puritan!
