Ole, Southbank

I think I've found my perfect breakfast and it's Spanish.

What do you think about poached eggs, freshly shaved jamon, spinach and a homemade hashbrown?

If your heart beats a little faster just thinking about it, like mine, get your body down to Ole in Little Stanley Street, South Bank.

Not for you? What's your favorite breakfast?

Ole opened last year with a Spanish theme and decor.  I particularly like the decorative panels in the ceiling.

The menu selection includes traditional Spanish tapas, raciones and a Spanish Paella and a wide variety of Spanish sherries, wines, sangria, beers and ciders. Perhaps not for breakfast though.

There is a good choice of breakfast suggestions that are all a little different from the normal boring selection.  Think black pudding, baked eggs with chorizo and confit tomato, potato tortilla and churros (spanish donuts).

VDiddy was being particularly good that morning and decided to have the fruta (fresh fruit, honey and yoghurt).  She remarked that the fruit was delicious and the the yoghurt/honey combo just perfect. High praise from She Who Must Be Obeyed.

I was also taken by their olives menu and the inclusion of olives from nearby Lake Wivenhoe.  Something to try next time.

And best of all, the staff were kind enough to offer water to my dog who had to watch us from the footpath.

Bottom line:  A taste of Spain without the jet lag.  Give it a try.
