Best view in Brisbane

It's the best view in Brisbane.

The one that you take visitors to see straight off the plane to give them a sense of Brisbane and it's surrounds.

Yes, I'm talking about the lookout on the top of Mount Coot-tha.

It's only about 30 minutes from the city centre, but it's smack in the middle of a nice slice of bushland and a fabulous spot for a city vista.

We headed up to Mt Coot-tha for an early morning motor bike ride on Sunday followed by breakfast. Out through Bardon and up the hill past the television stations and then down again on the Toowong side. The 50km speed limit around the mountain is a challenge to K2's self restraint but it does allow plenty of time to enjoy the view.

Here's what I saw

We decided to stop for breakfast at Kuta Cafe and enjoy the view a little longer.  There was a good mix of people at the cafe with a lot of foreign accents in the air.  There were also lots of hikers and bike riders taking a break after their mountain accent.

It was great to see all the tourists enjoying themselves.  I only wish I could say the same about the breakfast.  Overpriced, poorly cooked food that you have to wait a long time for never impresses, even when the view is spectacular.

Bottom line:  Go to Mount Coot-tha for the view.  Have an ice cream but save breakfast for other cafes close by like Hamptons at Paddington or the Corner Store Cafe at Toowong.
