Marinara, Paddington

It's so new it doesn't even have a sign yet, but a Italian casual diner called Marinara has opened on the town end of Latrobe Terrace, Paddington.

For those of you who know Latrobe Terrace and it's shopping attractions like the back of your hand, (you know who you are) it's directly opposite Endeavour's Retro and Vintage Labels.

With red checked table cloths and a rustic, Italian styled interior, the scene is all set for the garlic bread, scallopini, ravioli and lasagna the menu board promises.  Italian accents abound in the kitchen and the floor staff which adds to the authenticity.

It's very early days for the restaurant (open only 11 days) so there's still a lot to come including the pizza pans so wood-fired pan pizzas can be included on the menu.  The menu will also be subject to change as the venue matures.

Opening hours from January 20 are planned as breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.  This will be a welcome addition to the Sunday/Monday dining scene in Paddington.  Evidently it is already very busy on Friday and Saturday nights.

I was told the restaurant owner also has another restaurant by the same name at Sanctuary Cove.

We popped in for a late breakfast and enjoyed two coffees and a croissant.  Served with a generous helping of ham and cheese and a fresh salad, the croissant was well received by VDiddy.  Our coffees were Italian style - strong flavour with just a hint of bitterness.  In a street where great coffee is wildly available, Marinara might like to rethink their pricing here of $4 for a cappuccino.

Bottom line: New one to try on Latrobe Terrace. Please add comments below when you sample the menu.
