The Rogue Rennard, Paddington - now Remy's

Note:  This cafe has been renamed and is now Remy's

The new lair on Latrobe Terrace lurks on the corner of Ellena Street seducing customers through its doors with fine Cup coffee and seriously good pastries.

The smiling faces behind The Rogue Rennard are Alin Dumitru and Dane Huitfeldt who have turned a former gift shop into a coffee haven.

It's early days for the outlet and there's still some decorating to come but the boys have sourced some very good, no let's say great, pastries from the West End Bakery, freshly made each day by Sylvian.

And while the decor is sparse, the 100 year old counter sourced from Commercial Road Antiques at Newstead adds immediate interest.  It's complemented by a few other antique pieces, a French tea cart and tables made from old railway sleepers and there are plans for more.

The menu doesn't extend beyond pastries at the moment but Dane says the intention is to offer simple, creative breakfasts with coffee priced around $15 styled on the type of offerings you'd find at Sourced Grocer.  Bring it on I say.

It was tough, but I made do with a cup of well flavoured Cup Coffee and an almond croissant for breakfast.

The Rogue Rennard is located next to fabulous hairdressers, Mi Color.  Sipping their coffee and enjoying a pastry while having my hair done is now on my must do soon list.

There's a great courtyard at the front too, where soon there will be umbrellas over the tables  to add to the welcoming ambiance.

Bottom line:  good coffee and pastries
Best tip: Plenty of parking under Woolworths but don't stay more than three hours.
