Cherry blossom madness at Sake

Sake Restaurant is in the pink - pink food, pink cocktails and pink cherry blossoms everywhere to celebrate the Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival - Hanami.

If you were in Japan in Spring you would be packing a picnic and heading out to find saukura (cherry blossoms) covering the ground. You'd be picnicking and feasting under the trees with parties extending into the evening.  (Hope it's not a school night. :)

The Japanese have been doing it for centuries evidently and Saké Restaurant & Bar have hopped on the bandwagon until September 30 with hanami gatherings under its own sakura tree.

Head chef Shinichi Maeda, who likes a party when he's not surfing, welcomes the opportunity to continue the tradition at Saké, with the restaurant’s own sakura tree, sprigs of Cherry Blossom décor, special touches and fairy lights.

“The Cherry Blossom Festival is such a wonderful time in Japan, and I’m pleased to offer customers the opportunity to enjoy hanami under our sakura tree in the Saké Bar,” Shinichi said. “Our otsumami menu and wide range of sake and cocktails are perfect for this type of gathering, whether it’s a table for two or a party for ten.”

Here's what I sampled from Otsumami (snack) menu  -
