Good Food and Wine Show Top 10 must dos + win tickets


Brisbane is the ‘have it all’ city when it comes to food says chef George Calombaris.

This year the Brisbane Good Food and Wine Show celebrates the flourishing local food and wine scene in Brisbane. There will be produce and wine to explore from Brisbane’s backyard and beyond, with classes and new highlights this year designed to appeal to Queensland's increasingly demanding and inquisitive foodies.

The Show is open on Friday 9 November (9am - 5pm), Saturday 10 November (10am - 6pm) and Sunday 11 November (10am - 5pm) at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

1. Cheese Alley


Meet some of Australia’s leading cheese makers who will be sampling an array of delicious cheese. This feature has been developed based on feedback from visitors, so is sure to be one of the busiest areas of the Show! You can taste your way through a variety of cheese styles - from fresh, soft white and washed rind styles, to cheddar and blue.

2. Cheese Masterclass

Say Cheese! And book yourself into one of our all new 'Lyndey Milan' Kurrajong Kitchen Cheese Masterclasses presented by Majella Wine. Lyndey will present a variety of wickedly luscious sessions on all things to do with cheese (and wine of course). Each session will take you through a different platter of handpicked Australian cheeses and will include a glass of matching wine. Situated within the brand new Cheese Alley pavilion at the Show, these sessions are a perfect way to taste the best cheese and wine matches.

3. Private dinner

This brand new feature of the Show offers a unique and sophisticated dining experience for guests who will get the chance to personally meet their favourite chef in this intimate session for only 16 guests. Your celebrity chef will present their 3 course meal that they have created, and will also spend time to discuss the dishes they have prepared and answer any questions they may have. Very few people get the opportunity to have a meal with some of Australia’s best chefs – be the envy of your friends! Chefs include George Calombaris, Manu Fieldel, Ainsley Harriott and Matt Moran.

4. Chefs Table

LifeStyle FOOD presents an exclusive foodie experience at this year’s Good Food and Wine Show that is not to be missed. Designed for lovers of delicious food, specialty wines and a desire to learn from some of the world’s best chefs, LifeStyle FOOD Chef’s Table is a treat for the senses. Each session will introduce guests to a delicious chef-designed tasting menu of three dishes with perfectly paired premium wines. Your chef will take you on a culinary journey highlighting where the produce has been sourced from, how to prepare each dish and how the flavours and aromas match with different wine varieties. Questions are welcome throughout the session and each guest will leave with a generous LifeStyle FOOD goodie bag. Chefs include Miguel Maestre, Anna Gare and Maggie Beer.

5. Cocktail & Beauty Bar



New for 2012, the Skinnygirl Cocktails Beauty Bar will be the place to be seen! Make sure you stop by to sample the delicious range of cocktails on offer. You could be there a while, so the best part of all...if you purchase any product, you'll be invited to chill out in the exclusive Pamper Zone for a FREE express manicure or pedicure! Perfect for re-invigorating those tired hands and feet before heading back out to continue sampling the delights of the Show.

6. Tuckeroo Cooking School


Andrew Fielke’s unique cooking class will introduce you to all the secret delicacies of the Australian Bush. Smell, taste and learn how to work native ingredients into your everyday cooking at home. This mouth-watering experience will leave you wondering how it took you so long to get on board – session also includes a delicious take home goodie bag.

7.  Healthy Living Zone


Discover healthy recipes and tips at the macro Kitchen Stage plus taste delicious, healthy food in this new dedicated Healthy Living Zone – there’s even a dedicated Gluten Free section!

8. Maggie Beer at The Oxford Landing Estates Restaurant


Maggie Beer has created a mouth-watering menu using some of the best seasonal produce. Each dish is perfectly matched with a glass of Oxford Landing Estates wine – so the hardest part is deciding what to choose! Oxford Landing Estates wines are true to style and typical of the Riverland. They are naturally vibrant wines and even more so when partnered with food. The Restaurant will be the place to go and soak up the atmosphere, and it’s the perfect South Australian dining experience.


9. Riedel Decanter Bar Wine Sessions


This year Riedel brings to the show three fantastic wine class options; the Riedel Decanter Bar, Riedel Glass Tasting Class and Riedel Wine Theatre. At the Decanter Bar pick you wines and let some of Australia's leading sommeliers show you everything your drop has to offer. At the Glass Tasting learn how every glass highlights different wine characteristics, and explore rare and vintage wines or uncover new boutique labels at the Wine Theatre – all under the guidance of a panel of fine wine experts.

10. Shop & Drop


Don't hold back, shop til you drop! This year The Good Food and Wine Show will have a Shop & Drop facility so if you find that you've accidentally bought too much to carry, don't despair*. Just head over to the Shop & Drop, leave your purchases in safe hands for just $2 per drop, carry on shopping, and then pick everything up as you head out the door at the end of the day.
