Celebrity restaurant soars above Brisbane's skyline

There were plenty of excited people gathering around the Wheel of Brisbane early this morning for breakfast  to launch the Good Food and Wine Show 2012 at a pop-up with a real difference.

The Wheel was converted into a restaurant for the morning for a handful of lucky local diners who had won an invite to the event and moi!

With a glass of Moet Chandon in hand, guests were able to meet and chat with their favourite chefs, George Calombaris, Alastair McLeod, Matt Moran and international celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott and enjoy their breakfast creations. Then it was into the Wheel of Brisbane where each capsule was an instant dining booth for two, with guests soaring high above the Brisbane skyline.

“This brings a new meaning to a restaurant with a view!”, said Ainsley Harriot.

Alastair McLeod kicked off the proceedings

The menu included sweetcorn and chorizo fritters with bravo and aioli sauce by Ainsley, roasted rhubarb with organic honey labneh and rolled barley by Alastair, cannelon of cucumber with salmon tartare by Manu, portabello mushroom slider by Matt and yoghurt and vanilla panna cotta with strawberry salata and hazelnut crumble by George.

Got to say this was a fabulous way to start the day and see Brisbane in all it's beauty.  I hope the Wheel of Brisbane offers this again.

This pop-up restaurant officially opened the Brisbane Good Food & Wine Show will be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on Friday 9 November (9am - 5pm), Saturday 10 November (10am - 6pm) and Sunday 11 November (10am - 5pm).
