Brisbane's Budget Bites 2011

If you are serious about food in Brisbane this is a book you really shouldn't be without.

This independent guide produced by respected foodie and frequent tweeter Mei Yen Chua, now in it's third year, will lead to places you might never discover on your own.

Mei Yen has found lots of interesting ethnic eateries, providores and this edition also includes a special guest bakeries chapter where you'll discover the delights of Scandinavian, Chinese, French and Italian bakeries.

The best of Chinese chapter will take you beyond sweet and sour pork and Mongolian beef and help you unearth authentic Chinese food.  You won't find any 'shandies' ( a favourite mix from the 60's - and yes there are still restaurants offering that) but you will find a better class of dim sim, Shanghai-style hotpot restaurants, and more fiery, bold flavours.

The book explores beyond Brisbane into the Gold Coast from Oxenford to Tugan and, best of all, promises plenty of  great budget bites for under $20.
