Parc, Roma Street Parklands, Brisbane

Walking around the ponds and gardens, playing on the expansive lawns or just standing near the waterfalls are some of the activities I like best when I’m visiting Roma Street Parkland near the heart of Brisbane’s CBD.

Now I can add dinner at Parc to the list!
I’m still remembering the sweet creaminess of the sweet corn, scallop and chorizo risotto I had there before Christmas.  Add an entrée of sweet Morton Island oysters from Jane Clout and I’m flying close to heaven.

Parc Restaurant + Bar is owned by Louise and Stuart Price, founders of Mirra Private Dining & Events at Fortitude Valley and co-owners of The London Club in Teneriffe.  This location has seen a few incarnations and obviously taken some time to find its feet.  Hopefully Parc has the magic formula.

Our other entree choices on the night were the charcuterie plate w terrine de campagne and cantimpalo ($13) and a traditional Salade Nicoise ($15).  My partner’s comment on the charcuterie was ‘it’s a lot of meat with not much else’.

Mains included ox cheek ragout papardelle ($29) and a 300gm Black Angus Rib Eye (150 day grain fed) with fries and a bearnaise ($38). Both were well received.

The crème brulee with house made shortbread and coulis $13) also achieved a favourable report rating in the ‘best ever’ category.

We were dining mid week and the restaurant was quiet apart from two other tables.  Service was quick and attentive and their wine match suggestions worked well.

I’d like to try the lunch menu here so I could enjoy the parkland view and maybe work off lunch with a stroll through the gardens.

There’s also good short-term parking available close by – unusual for an inner city location.
Bottom line: Worth returning to enjoy the food again.
