New city cellar door for Jimbour Wines

Congratulations to Jimbour Wines on the opening of their city cellar door at Oliver & Co Gourmet Groceries and Deli, 104 Melbourne Street, South Brisbane.

Oliver and Co is just next door to Era and has a great assortment of food, and now wine, on offer. I am heading back there soon to try the cupcakes.

As well as the winery, Jimbour is both a tiny village 238 km northwest of Brisbane and also the location of one of our most gracious historical homes - Jimbour - built in 1876.The original Station Store has been transformed into a wine tasting Cellar Door, cafe and information centre.

Jimbour has 52 acres of vineyard, under the guidance of  Master of Wine Peter Scudamore-Smith. (Pictured with Jimbour owner David Russell). They are racking up an impressive list of medal wins lately - congratulations Peter! Jimbour's Ludwig Leichardt Shiraz 07 recently took Gold at the The San Francisco International Wine Competition.

At Oliver & Co you'll find plenty of pizza options, lots of choices for a morning coffee and pastry, or a simple, tasty meals. There's also a vast array of delicious Mediterranean goodies.

It's great to have another Queensland winery with their own cellar door in the city. The other one to try is Clovely up on Musgrave Road at Red Hill.

Of course you can head just a little out of the city and enjoy Sirromet's cellar door at Mount Cotton.  It's a great venue on Saturday and Sunday afternoons with free music and a semi rural setting amongst the vineyards.
