Serendipity Coffee Bar at Wilston which is on the corner of Kedron Brook Road and Heather Street (next door to Cold Rock) is not much bigger than a hole in the wall operation. There's only enough room to order your food inside where the kitchen is on full display. Outside there are several tables and chairs on the footpath and some stools at a high bench.
It's all very casual and quite charming, especially on a beautiful sunny day. Not a place to head for when the weather is less than perfect.
We stopped for coffee, which was very good and I also managed to try a hummingbird cupcake which was moist and flavorsome with an appropriate amount of cream cheese icing.
Had we visited before breakfast there was plenty on the all day breakfast menu that caught my eye - banana bread ($6), spicy baked beans ($6), brekky roll with smoky bacon, swiss cheese, tomato relish in a turkish roll ($10), or just plain eggs for $7.50. There were plenty of extras to add to create the brekky of your choice, a nice idea for a breakfast menu. All made with free range eggs and organic milk.
The toasted sandwiches on the lunch are also very popular.
Bottom line: A small menu with plenty of options, great for breakfast or lunch.
