Bag yourself a market bargain on Saturday

With news of the latest floods to hit the East Coast highlighting a grower's supply shortage to many major supermarkets, Jan Powers Farmers Markets say they will have plenty of  seasonal fruit, vegetable and produce with some at bargain prices.

Paul Atherinos, grower and owner of Us2U fruit and cheese at Jan’s Powerhouse Markets this Saturday  said dealing with independent growers and stallholders is the best way to pick up seasonal fruit and find a bargain.

“I have family that are growers all over Queensland and inter-state that we can get fruit from that we swap, buy and sell with from Mary Valley, Townsville, Darwin and so on.”

Jan Power says it is business as usual for the popular New Farm Markets this Saturday which start at 6am and run till just after noon.

“I have had a noticeable number of new stall holders contact me for this coming market, which will have a lot more growers than normal, who are trying to move ripe produce quicker than going through the longer rig moral required with larger suppliers, so seasonal bargains will be rife,” said Jan.
