Satisfy the urge is the mission statement for the newish Kafe Krave at Windsor.
Haven't found it yet? It's in the Windsor Homezone on a site formerly occupied by Milk as Amanda Scott has decided to focus her energies on the Ashgrove store. I found it after V Diddy and her friend (both coffee snobs) raved about their Campos coffee.
Owner Cory Simpson hails from NZ and has put considerable energy into this new operation using his solid background in hospitality industry to get underway.
I was there a couple of weeks ago and was surprised by the prices which seemed great value for the quality of the produce. They don't make their cakes on site but do buy in from Levain which is fine in my book.
We ate a simple sandwich lunch but it was fresh with great fillings. The Campos coffee was excellent.
I'd love to dip into the breakfast menu and try their corn and coriander fritters with smoked salmon, egg and spinach ($17) or the rhubarb and pear with almond crumble, fresh fruits and mascarpone ($12).
There's also a 100g sirloin steak topped with hollandaise, eggs any style, bacon, field mushrooms, roasted tomatoes and chunky chips ($19.50) that would certainly fill up most people and more.
Bottom line: Well priced food and great coffee
