Hello food
lovers,
I'm in a bit of a food coma at the moment after two weeks of Delectable
finishing with the fabulous Food Bowl event on
Sunday. It was a great turn out from Brisbane restaurants and a
perfect day in the city Botanic Gardens. I'm hoping this event is
repeated next year, minus the long queues to get in and the dearth of
Delectable dollars that had many hungry people frustrated and unable to
purchase food that restaurants were keen to sell.
Urban Spoon is the web site restaurant owners love to hate, sometimes
with very good reason, so it's refreshing to see Luke Stringer, owner of Hampton's at
Paddington, taking a proactive stance.
There have been openings a plenty - here's a few for you to check out-
- Crank House - boutique cycle shop with an
espresso bar serving homemade treats, 70-72 Macgregor Terrace
Bardon.
- Sichuan Bang Bang - traditional cuisine from
China's Sichuan province, 8 Wongabel Street, Kenmore
- Champ kitchen + bar - another one from the people
who run Anouk in the new ABC headquarters, 114 Grey Street,
Brisbane.
- Espresso One Eleven - Philip Johnson's new coffee
shop, 111 Eagle Street, Brisbane.
- Mr & Mrs G Riverbar, a bar from Marcia and
Andy Georges of Il Centro fame with an interior from Anna Spiro,
Eagle Street Pier, CBD
Finally, if you have the ulimate fabulous original recipe hidding in your
cook book this may be the time to share - Channel Ten is now casting for
a new show, ‘Recipe To Riches’,
searching for Australia’s greatest secret recipe. You don’t have to be a
gourmet chef to win Recipe To Riches. You just have to be the owner of
one, original, awesome recipe that you think deserves to be on Australian
supermarket shelves.
Follow my Facebook page for
the latest updates on Brisbane's food scene.
Enjoy
Kerry
