Envy, Cotton Tree, Sunshine Coast

Envy is a funky little cafe on Cotton Tree Parade at Cotton Tree on the Sunshine Coast.

It's a favourite for locals because the food is consistently good, it delivers a decent feed for the price and the smoothies are hard to beat.

Combine that with a healthy menu that includes vegetarian and gluten free options with fresh local produce, and you've got a winner.

It takes a while to place an order at the cash register because there always seems to be a queue but from then the service is prompt. I'd hardly sat down before my cappuccino arrived.

There are plenty of tables on the balcony outside which overlooks Cotton Tree Parade and, of course, the Cotton trees. Inside is air conditioned and furnished with tables and a few couches for a relaxed coffee. The couches are a bit hard to eat at unless you are a TV dinner expert.

We ordered a Low Carb Breakie ($16.50) with toast - I know, don't say anything! It came with two poached eggs, grilled ham off the bone, mushrooms, avocado and spinach. The toast was nice and thick - but they did forget the promised homemade chutney.

Creamy Mushrooms ($15.50) came again with two poached eggs, ciabatta, rocket and parmesan.
The coffee is Vittoria.

Bottom line: food is consistently good, decent feed for the price and smoothies that are hard to beat.
