Sierra in Noosa's famous Hastings Street takes pavement dining to a new level.
The cafe/bar is a long strip along the street with most of the seating on the pavement. Despite the less than perfect weather, the undercover seating was dry and cosy. This was good because although there was no shortage of seating, when we finally captured a wait person's attention and ordered we were informed of a 30 minute delay.
That proved optimistic and turned into 45 minutes by the time the food arrived. At 10.30 we were keen to eat breakfast although I probably would have ordered something more substantial if I had known when the orders were taken.
There's always plenty of people at Sierra, usually a mix of locals and tourists - you can tell by the dress code.
The breakfast menu, which runs from 7.30 - 11.30, includes standards like bacon and eggs $12 in different combos and also Mexican eggs with jalapenos for those who like to start the day hot $16.
Other options include corn fritters $15, pancakes $13 and omelettes with a choice of fillings $15/17. My biriyani rice the night before meant I couldn't bring myself to line up for Nasi Goreng Sierra style $14 (vegetables stir fried with rice and tofu topped with a fried egg.)
Kids will appreciate the chance to enjoy their cereal faves like Coco Pops and Weet-bix ($6).
Our selections were porridge with brown sugar, cream and banana ($9) and Sour dough toast with hommus, sliced tomato $9 and a side of avocado $4. The porridge was rich and creamy and there was a lot of it. Noice. The toast combo also met with approval.
Bottom line: Popular so check how long your meal will be before you order. The loud music also wears a bit thin after 30 minutes.
