Food dreams - Palm Cove, North Queensland

It's Sunday morning and  I'm dreaming of a holiday driven by food.  Where will I go today?

Peppers Beach Club & Spa at Palm Cove is holding an irresistible gourmet event on 10 and 11 August with a weekend full of the best locally sourced food and wine from their 'Gourmet Food Trail'.

Palm Cove is one of my favourite places. I love the relaxed beachy atmosphere of the place and the huge paperbark trees that line the road are awe inspiring.

'In Season in the Tropics' is being billed as an opportunity to not only taste the finest local fare, but to really experience the journey of produce, from the paddock to the plate.

On arrival, food fans will be greeted with a welcome tasting plate of fresh regional produce and sparkling wine in their room. That evening, they'll sip Bollinger champagne, savour gourmet canapés and feast their eyes on a fashion show of the latest swimwear and resort wear designs by the resort's formal pool at the Champagne, Canapés & Fashion event.

On Saturday morning, guests will receive complimentary entry to a farmers market featuring fresh produce from local community growers, which is conveniently being held at the resort's tennis court and clubhouse.

To complete their ultimate foodie weekend away, guests will savour a five-course 'In Season' Degustation Dinner, hosted by award-winning wine critic Nick Stock and designed by Peppers Beach Club & Spa Executive Chef Vanessa Grace, featuring sublime dishes bursting with fresh tropical produce.

Each course will be made even more memorable when complimented by matching wines and served around the splendour of the Peppers Beach Club & Spa's formal pool.

For guests who can't make the weekend event, Peppers Beach Club & Spa also has a specially crafted Gourmet Food Trail Package which allows guests to embark on a Tropical North Queensland culinary journey at their leisure.

Priced from $479* per night, the resort's Gourmet Food Trail Package includes accommodation in a Spa Room, a welcome tasting platter featuring regional produce and sparkling wine, a Taste of the Tropics gift bag, buffet breakfast daily and a three-course dinner for two people on one evening at the Lime & Pepper restaurant. Valid for travel until 30 September, 2012.
