If you love
deliciously creamy, fresh from the ocean oysters the Straddie Oyster Festival
is a must.
Not only do you get
to spend a day eating oysters at ridiculously cheap prices, but you can also finish
the weekend on Stradbroke Island.
Mark Saturday,
November 10 in your diary to enjoy an abundance of fresh local Moreton Bay oysters,
prawns, crabs and bugs, oysters Kilpatrick or Mornay, all on the oval at
Dunwich. Try your luck in the mullet throw competition (that’s fish not people
with bad haircuts), oyster and prawn eating competition and the oyster shucking
competition
The oyster farmers will also have an
educational display on oyster farming techniques and how and where the tasty
local Moreton Bay Oysters are farmed.
The day will kick
off at 10am with "Who Killed Kenny" playing throughout the day and conclude at 6pm, plenty of time for make it back to the mainland on
a Stradbroke Ferries Water Taxi or the Big Red Cat.
This year there will also
be a Classic Car and Bike Show for enthusiastic rev heads.
