Queensland's Hot Restaurants 2014

Wondering where you are going to eat out in Brisbane?  Want to know where to find the restaurants the critics love?

Well, you'll need to arm yourself with the latest bibles - The Brisbane Times Good Food Guide 2014/15 and the Gourmet Traveller 2015 Australian Restaurant Guide which is available with the latest edition of Gourmet Traveller.

Hopefully you also picked up a copy of The Weekend  Australian Magazine (August 23-24) to see what John Lethean and Necia Wilden picked to add to their national Hot 50 Restaurants.  Just in case you missed that one, I'm listing them here.

According to John and Necia, the Best Bar in Brisbane is 1889 Enoteca. Their Queensland inclusions in the hot 50 are Jim Berardo's Noosa institution Berardo's which has flourished under the helm of new chef Tim Montgomery; Wasabi - another Noosa triumph; Urbane in Brisbane's CBD where chef  Alejandro Cancino forges ahead with his vegan palette and Argentinean heritage to create food that excites; Ryan Squire's Esquire on the river at Eagle Street; and Stokehouse at South Bank where the views are fabulous but the food is arguably even better.

Australian Gourmet Traveller Awards

The Queensland Editor of the 2015 AGT Australian Restaurant  Guide is Fiona Donnelly who also writes for The Courier-Mail.

The only Queensland winner in their awards is Lefty's Old Time Music Hall as Bar of the Year. It's a product of Jason  Scott, co founder of Sydney's Shady Pines, Baxter Inn and Frankie's and Brisbane restaurateur Jamie Webb who has Peasant and Cabiria at Paddington Barracks and Gordita at M&A, Fortitude Valley.

NuNu at Palm Cove was a finalist for Regional Restaurant of the year which was won by Brae at Birregurra.

The AGT's pick of the Top 10 restaurants in Queensland is
  1. Esquire
  2. Urbane
  3. Aria Brisbane
  4. Gerard's Bistro
  5. Stokehouse Brisbane
  6. GOMA Restaurant
  7. The Euro
  8. 1889 Enoteca

20. Urbane
38. Nu Nu
45. Wasabi
46. Aria, Brisbane
77. The Fish House

So there's plenty of top restaurants and bars to work through, more than one a month, until the next round is revealed in 2015.   That's your challenge!
