There's so much to like about this cafe - great riverside position, wide sunny terrace, dog friendly areas and there's even a walking trail right there in front of you.
Medley Cafe is one of those hidden gems that you won't stumble across unless you are a local going for a stroll because it certainly doesn't have a street frontage. And why would it, with an envious Brisbane River outlook this cafe certainly has all that it needs for wow factor. Find this one on Google Maps but if you are close to the Story Bridge Hotel, you don't have to look far.
It's near perfect for breakfast, although a sunset drink on Friday and Saturday nights when it opens until 10pm, would also be on my list.
I was feeling the need to be healthy and the chia porridge with chia seeds soaked in coconut water with berries and chocolate nibs fitted the bill perfectly. Decorated with a flower, it also looked very pretty when it arrived.
When the Catalan baked eggs came out it was clear they were not actually baked eggs but poached eggs plonked into a chorizo piperade which, according to K2, did not work as well.
K3 was very happy with her zucchini and cherry tomato tart which was basically scrambled eggs with zucchini and cherry tomatoes cooked in balsamic vinegar and served in a tart shell, all topped with aged parmesan.
There's also a nod to the chef's Greek heritage with some home made baklava on offer.
A stroll along the boardwalk should be on your list with a visit to this cafe as it's a very pleasant way to spend some time. Who would have thought Brisbane had a river beach?

Bottom line: Breakfast prices range from $8.90 to $21.90.
Best tip: With a view like this I'm prepared to overlook a few inconsistencies. The cafe also has a dedicated off street parking area.
